What is Your Skin Concern

Signs Of Aging - Fine Lines And Wrinkles

Aging is an entirely natural phenomenon for all living things. Just like our mind evolves with time and experience, our bodies also start showing signs of reaching maturity as the years progress.  But sometimes, these signs of aging can take a toll on our mental health and how we perceive ourselves.

Trying to maintain the healthy glow of our youth is completely normal for human beings. Even if we are not doing a lot for it consciously, we all want to live in our prime subconsciously. And if the common signs of aging start to appear on our skin before we were expecting them, coping with the sands of time becomes especially hard.

What it is:

So, what exactly are signs of aging? Why do we start to see fine lines and wrinkles on our faces after reaching a certain age?

Our skin is made up of two primary proteins - collagen and elastin. These proteins are constantly being broken down and formed again throughout our lives. As we grow older, the rate at which these proteins are formed starts to fall. Meanwhile, the catabolic processes do not slow down, which offsets the sensitive balance for a healthy turnover of skin tissues.

This causes our skin to sag and appears as fine lines and wrinkles. The good thing? This natural phenomenon can be significantly delayed by taking proper care of your skin.

How to treat it:

For fine lines and wrinkles, treatment begins before the first signs of aging appears. Remember the saying “prevention is better than cure”? That phrase applies a hundred percent to this common skin issue.

Following a good skincare routine is the best way to delay your skin from aging. Using a good cleanser, toner, and moisturizer is impertinent to avoid serious skin problems in the future. Using quality sunscreen and reducing sun exposure can make a great deal of difference in premature aging.

To treat the wrinkles and fine lines that have already made an appearance on your skin, invest in some quality anti-aging formulations.

The Pinocell Roxy Wrinkle Cream is amazing at diminishing wrinkles and preventing the formation of new ones.

Exoderm Cellulose Face Mask promotes collagen synthesis and keeps your skin from sagging. This Biocellulose sheet mask was originally used to treat burn victims and the sheet is made of natural coconut fibre.

Idebenone Boosting Ampoule is one of the most effective anti-aging solutions on the market.  It effectively reduces wrinkles, fine lines and hyper-pigmentation.

Frequent Breakouts And Acne Scars

Most people experience their first breakout in adolescence, but this is a problem that can often continue into adult life. People who have oily skin type are especially vulnerable to developing acne, which is not always a result of poor personal hygiene. However, those who suffer with oily skin in their adolescence are the ones whose skin barely shows any signs of aging as they mature.  Their naturally hydrated skin barely wrinkles or ages over time.

What it is:

There are several types of acne in existence. All of these types may have different causative agents, but the mechanism behind the formation of new pimples is usually the same. In most cases, acne results due to an overproduction of oil by the sebaceous glands in your skin. This excess oil can choke your pores and promote the buildup of dust, dead skin cells, and other debris in them. The skin’s natural response to this is forming cyst-like pustules that we call pimples.

How to treat it:

Acne can occur because of a wide variety of reasons. If it occurs during adolescence and goes away after puberty, it is most likely caused by the hormonal changes occurring in the body. Similarly, factors such as stress, certain kinds of food, using a new skin product, or not getting enough sleep can also cause acne. The first step to treating this problem is trying to find out the reason behind it and resolving that, if possible.

But what about the pimples that are already there? These can be taken care of by using gentle exfoliating methods. Using a cleanser with salicylic acid in it can make a world of difference for acne prone skin. A fantastic cleanser that can minimize your acne issues is the La Clear Mild Enzyme Powder.

Other exfoliating acids, such as glycolic acid, lactic acid, and mandelic acid, are also great for treating the cause at the root and taking away the build-up that eventually causes acne. Dr. Hedison’s AHA pads are great for some daily exfoliation for acne-prone skin. It is also helpful in clearing persistent acne scars by encouraging a healthy turnover of skin cells.

For oily skin, clay masks can be the ultimate savior against a stubborn acne problem. The Pams Cosmetics 100% Natural Clay Mask absorbs excess oil and draws out impurities from the skin, leaving a clean canvas behind.

Excess Oil Production

Excess oil production can be quite a skin demon to deal with. If left untreated, it can result in several complex skin problems that become almost impossible to resolve. Acne and acne marks/scars, increased sensitivity, and a dirty and tired appearance can occur because of too much oil and sebum produced by the skin.

What it is:

Our skin has special sebaceous glands responsible for the production of natural oils and keeping it supple. In some people, these glands tend to ‘overwork’ and cause a greasy and shiny appearance. This does not only look unappealing cosmetically but can also lead to many serious skin issues like clogged pores and exaggerated texture.

How to treat it:

Taking care of oily skin can be pretty tricky. Many people with this skin type tend to over-cleanse their faces to get rid of the oiliness, not realizing that this is a signal for the skin to up oil production even more. The key to treating overproducing sebaceous glands is washing your face regularly but moderately.

The La Clear Mild Enzyme Powder is a fantastic facial cleanser that gently eliminates all pollutants and makeup. It removes these impurities without overdrying your skin and stimulating it to produce more oil. A clay mask such as Pams Cosmetics 100% Natural Clay Mask works to absorb any excess oil on the skin without drawing it out from within where there is a need for it.

Dry And Cracked Skin

Dry skin can be super uncomfortable to deal with. A skin that does not produce sufficient oil and sebum can quickly become red, irritated, and inflamed.

What it is:

Our skin tends to produce more or less oil in accordance with the weather conditions. In the cold winters, this oil production hits a minimum and can lead to a tight, dry feeling on the skin. If your skin type is already on the drier side of the spectrum, the changing weather can take quite a toll on you and cause cracks and tears in your skin.  It is essential to run a humidifier in your home during the winter season - look at your plants as they will reveal the truth - if they are yellowing or have brown tips then it is due to low humidity.  Your plants can reveal a lot to you about your own skin.  I’m a plant lover and only want the best for my skin and my plants.

How to treat it:

If your skin is unable to keep up production with its requirement for natural oils, you must make up for the lack by using external products. Moisturizing is key for all types of skin, but dry skin needs that extra oomph.

Pick creamier, heavier moisturizes to supplement the skin’s natural oil production to keep your skin supple and youthful. The Pinocell Roxy Intensive Gel Plus is a wonderful product to treat dryness and other skin issues that stem from it. It contains niacinamide, which helps bring a dewy glow on dull skin, and the adenosine in it fights aging and fine lines.

The Idebenone Boosting Ampoule is another fantastic product to use in the serum stage. This liquid gold will deeply hydrate your skin from within and give you an unmatched glow. It also adds elasticity to your skin and brightens your complexion to give your skin a healthy appearance.

Another tip for those with dry skin:

*Usually during the winter season, I combine a drop or two of Jojoba Oil or Rosehip Oil into my face cream for an extra moisturizing effect and it works wonders.

Puffy Under-Eye Area And Dark Circles

The under-eye area is especially vulnerable to an extensive range of skin issues. This is because the skin in this area is significantly thinner than the skin in other parts of your body, and the first signs of skin damage tend to show up here. From aging to stress to insomnia - these insults can make your eyes puffy and tired-looking.

What it is:

The number one cause for dark circles and heavy eyebags is aging. The accumulation of lymph fluid  under the eyes can make them look puffy and swollen. The other common problem of this area - dark circles - can result from excessive sun exposure, hyperpigmentation and lack of sleep. Sunken eyes are the breakdown of collagen and elastin tissues in the under-eye area, again they are all a part of the aging process.

How to treat it:

To make your face truly glow, you need to pay special attention to its sensitive areas. Thankfully, we have a wide range of products that target the under-eye area and maintain its beauty.

To instantly de puff your eyes, try your hands at a relaxing face massage. Including special under-eye products in your daily routine can be beneficial. The Hedison’s Eye Care Set serves as an excellent basic routine to start with.

For more permanent problems, you can add other active ingredients to your skincare routine. Peptides are excellent for treating hyperpigmentation and dark spots all over the face.

If your under-eye problems are from aging, retinoids and peptides are your holy grail.

The Pittoresco Volufiline Eye Serum which contains Acetyl Hexapeptide 8, the ingredient found in Botox, also addresses the under-eye issues that stem from aging and treats them effectively. This ingredient tightens the skin and reduces wrinkles.

Nightly use of Dr. Hedison’s Eye Serum Peptide Eye Patch will also keep these problems at bay.

Dull And Lifeless Skin

Sometimes, you think you are doing everything for your skin but cannot stop looking dull and lifeless. We all crave that healthy glow that every skin product promises us in their advertisements. But whatever we do, the glass skin concept remains a faraway dream for many of us.

What it is:

From dehydration to a build-up of dead skin cells, there can be multiple reasons for skin lacking luster and radiance. Over-washing your face can also lead to poor skin health and a textured appearance. Another common cause of these problems is misusing your skin products or using too many of them at once. This can interfere with your skin's natural turnover and confuse it on how to respond to all these intensive treatments.

How to treat it:

The latest research suggests that you do not need a 20 step skin-care routine every single night. Sure, it is nice to indulge in extensive self-treatment every once in a while, but it is utterly unnecessary to give your skin more than what it needs. A simple CTM (cleanse, tone, moisturize) routine is sufficient for many of us who do not have individual skin concerns. Of course, this needs to be topped off with quality sunscreen in the AM.

Besides minimizing your skincare routine and keeping things simple, dull skin can greatly benefit from using hydrating and rejuvenating products every once in a while.

The Pastel Shop’s Charcoal Black Mask with Cucumber Essence can instantly transform your entire look by giving your skin that extra push it needs sometimes.

Dr. Hedison’s Vital Energy Ampoule Patches are a unique under-eye mask that brightens the area and makes you look youthful.

If you do not exfoliate regularly, (at least once a week) the chances are that dullness of the skin may be caused by build-up. Every time we go out, our skin is bombarded with dust, microorganisms, and other pollutants. In addition to that, the dead skin cells that are being shed off constantly might also become trapped in our pores.

Cleansing your face is great, but it is rarely sufficient at removing all impurities. A chemical exfoliator such as Dr. Hedison’s AHA Soft Peeling Pads are a skin saving miracle in these cases.

The Final Word

We cannot all have ‘perfect skin’ however; maintaining a good skincare routine is key to having healthy, glowing skin.  A simple CTM (Cleanse/Tone/Moisturize) followed by sunscreen is a necessity no matter the skin type.  Be sure to add a weekly deeply cleanse to your skincare routine.

After having to go through a horrible teen acne situation I am now faced with some minor scarring on both my cheeks and forehead. I’ve tried some acid formulations to gently exfoliate my skin but I’m not seeing the results I was hoping for. Should I go for stronger concentrations?

I inherited my mom’s dry skin problem and the dry air in our city isn’t helping at all. I’ve tried some popular dermacosmetics but I still don’t manage to make my skin look healthy again. I drink a ton of water, I exercise, we rarely use the AC unit but nothing seems to work. Gonna check your recommendation for dry skin, hopefully I match up with one of your products.

When I hit 30 I started having serious skin problems which affected my self-esteem quite a lot. Working from home as a graphic design freelancer aka staring at a screen for hours on end made my under-eye problems worse. Your Pittorecco eye serum was my lucky ticket, now I’m never without it.
